If one wanted to make a tool roll themselves, that;

• wouldn't see much use
  
• they wanted to be as light as possible
  
• was ideally waterproof and
  
• only as strong as necessary
  
  

what fabric would be a good choice?

A cut up old packpack? (thinking of Kipling bags here)

Or can you buy something proper in small amounts.
