  • So, have you tried:

    • Removing the cable from the FD clamp then,
    • Setting the L screw so that the cage doesn't touch the chain when it's on the largest rear sprocket
    • Loosen any in-line cable adjusters (probably at the top of the downtube)
    • Pull the cable taut and tighten the FD clamp
    • Tighten up the in-line adjusters so that the cable is fully taut, but doesn't move the FD cage from its initial position

    And go from there?

    Sorry if I'm telling you something you already know, but I also used to find FD setup a bit tricky in the past.
