  • Had one of those days of bike building on Saturday

    • Original seat pin broke on installation
    • Stem clamp size did not match bar diameter (rookie error)
    • Nuts for brake installation too wide for mountings in frame (do not want to drill)
    • Rails on intended saddle too wide for seat post
    • Somehow wound up with too left-hand limiters in the period correct set of downtube shifters that I bought

    Very frustrating.

    Some of these issues resolved with 1) a bit of judicious filing and a non period-correct seatpin 2) a bodge on the shifters 3) a trip to Hilly Ben for an alternative stem and 4) bringing an old saddle out of retirement.

    Still very much slower progress than I'd hoped for though. Hoping to locate a few extra bits today.
