Your Garmin help, please

Whenever I charge my 705 it always switches itself on. Usually I remember to switch it back off. This morning however I spotted that a) I had left it switched on and b) someone's need to toast bread was greater than my need to charge the garmin resulting in c) a flat battery.
Having been caught out like this when I've gone to use the garmin I wonder is there a way to stop the thing turning itself on each time the charger is plugged in?
