I've got an old Juna tri-spoke that needs work and here is the advice I have received from Ariba:

All you need to do is rub down with wet and dry start at 600 / 800 and finish with 1000/ 1500 and use a automotive lacquer. I have this on good authority as John who works here made the bikes that won the 2000 Olympics for GB.
