It's possible that one of the ends of the cage spring has detached from the notch which it is meant to stay in.
Grab a diagram as suggested via Google or the Shimano site and maybe remove the cage if it looks simple enough.
And let us know if it is a manufacturing defect as I'd be interested to know.
