Finding routes is one of the most enjoyable parts of cycling, and to have that lost to technology entirely would be a pity - I think that's primarily the function of getting on your bike; the going this way and that, then the other, under your own steam, of your own volition. But to know you've ridden 40/50/60 miles, you need confirmation.
