I'm at the start of a project for my better half, which will probably involve trying to change some downtube friction shifters for indexed. I'm after some advice.
My current thinking is: remove the shifters, saw off the braze ons, fill (or get filled) the holes, get the frame powder coated, and attempt to source some band-on eyelets to lead up to indexed shifters on the bars.
Anyone care to offer advice on the general idea, have experience of doing a similar job, or have specific suggestions for components that might come in useful?
