    You see a lot of people riding with badly set up cantis, moaning about how rubbish they are.
    They aren't. I've got a cheapo tektro on my back and it's brilliant. ranging from gentle modulation to full on lock up for emergencies.

    The only thing I couldn't change was the squeal from my front using the same tektro. I put some frogs legs on the forks and although braking ability didn't change the sound did. strange.

    I would regard these as badly set up cantis:

    get the bridge/hanger/yoke whatever you want to call it down to the level of the crown, just as number 6 says. You could go lower too as mud will hit the back of the fork first.
