Joe Summerfield deserve a mentioned here.
He not only tour round the world, nor just went up to Everest Base Camp, but did it on an Ordinary.
I read about his reasoning, one of them is that he wanted to pay homage to the first cyclotourist in the world, whom did it on an Ordinary too back in the 19th Century, so he took a stone from his grave, put it in his bag and rode round the world before putting it back.
I hasn't got the book where he said that as I lend it to a friend whom going on a cyclotour.
