If you're not in a rush there is a convaluted off-road route that lets you avoid the worst of the Hammersmith gyratory, you'll have to do some exploring to find it though! I agree with Oliver the whole roundabout is a scar - let alone for cyclists it completely cuts Hammersmith apart. Could be such a nice area otherwise.
Glad to hear Ellen is okay, nice to read a rider down thread with a (when all is said and done) happy ending.
