Different break but similar results.
I shattered my heel, and had 10 screws and a plate inserted to hold it all together. To begin with the incision looked huge, but as the swelling went down and it healed the scar has become alot less prominant.
I'm still having quite alot of trouble with mine, but cycling is one of the few things that I can do with minimal discomfort. I was cycling before I was off my crutches (only singlespeed) and I definately found it helped both with rebuilding muscle structure but also with aiding my sanity.
My top tip is to try and get as much physiotherapy as possible and do the exercises they give you. If your local hospital has hydrotherapy as an option try to push for that aswell, I definately feel that the level of physio and hydrotherapy I recieved sped my recovery up.
Oh and listen to the doctors, whilst it can be infuriating to hear them tell you to stay off your feet for however many weeks, they're only telling you for your benifit. I've heard some horror stories of metalwork collapsing due to the lack of support from the surrounding bone.
I hope it heals well and you're back on the bike soon.
