Post-break I started running which felt weird... my leg wasn't happy with it at all. I used to ride geared fairly regularly and recently took up fixie riding; since doing so all aches/pains have completely disappeared and my legs are now far stronger than they ever were before the break! Make sure you do your physio (especially stretches) to regain flexibility, I just left strength-building to the bike.
