I badly broke my leg and ankle a couple of years ago. Bad points are scar, ache in the cold, odd feeling when running. Good points I find cycling completely fine, I'm by no means a 'serious' cyclist, but i ride every day/play polo etc and my ankle never gives me any jip.
It's the aching in the cold (metal bits) and the discomfort when running/ the fear factor of fucking it up again.
When I did mine I broke tib and fib and shattered and dislocated my ankle socket- in effect leaving my foot 'floating' away from my leg, having my ankle rest into a leg that was in half and feeling bones against my skin and each other was the most nauseating feeling I've ever had. But after all this within a 3/4 month period you'll be back starting to get going again!
