    Probably no more than 1/4 of his total training time is spent in the gym, depending on the training phase. Given that most track sessions will last 3 or 4 times longer than the gym sessions and he will also be doing more road than most people think.

    IMO a lot of the on-the-bike strength training is responsible for at least some of that muscle hypertrophy.
