Wearing padded mitts is enough. The cobbles aren't that bad on Flanders and most of them are on uphill sections so your speed is low. From memory, there are two or three flat/slightly downhill sections where you take a bit of a pounding but if you loosely grip the bars, rather than hold onto them with a death grip, your hands will be fine.
There are literally thousands of people riding it and most of them seem to cope fine on bikes that don't look fit for purpose so I wouldn't stress too much about it. Enjoy it, it's great fun.
