To address some of your questions Dan, carbon would be fine to be ridden all year round and it's generally robust enough to be carted around in a bike box/bag.
Personally I'd go for titanium, but that's down to my own preferences. When it comes to comfort there's not much to choose between carbon and titanium, especially if your avoiding very race specific frames.

Smallfurry that Velocite frame looks lovely, and the low-key graphics definitely appeal to the graphic designer in me :)
