I tend to use legwarmers/armwarmers on days that start cold but will rise up into the 20's later on. At the moment that is clearly unlikely, so may as well have the protection for the day with no worries about the knee warmers slipping down.
Smallfurry - i have ridiculous sized calves (combination of genetics and fencing), but my 3/4s fit fine with out the bit below the knee rising up and bunching.
