Right, just signed up for PRS and am about to invest in a mac for recording on. Anyone got any advice for setting up a home recording errr set up? Any tips?
A mate of mine has had a mildly lucrative sideline producing tunes for teeveefor ages. For years he's been on at me to get in on it, get a decent computer and start producing stuff myself. But for one reason or another I've always concentrated on playing live or just being a performer rather than a producer. I've done stuff with him in the last but never really produced anything myself. My demos have remained stubbornly lo-fi (good mics straight onto an old hard-disc digital recorder with no compression or mastering).
This job is basically him kicking me in the bum to finally get set up and producing myself*. so, yep, i'm going to get myself a mac and some sort of audio interface/pre-amp channel strip type dealio (i have mics etc already)
*i'm not actually producing this one but the expectation is that once this is done, i'll start churning out more stuff which he'll try and place. That's the plan anyway.
Does this need another thread or is sufficienty generic-muso to stay in the guitar-nerd thread?
