Clefty - try diversifying your feed.
Get some mealworm out - there's a very good chance of getting a robin that way.
Also, Thistleseed is like crack to goldfinches. A good option.
And try a bird bath. You'd be surprised how thirsty the birds get at this time, so a source of clean water is a real attractor.
And remember to persist. In cities the birds aren't as common as our rural parts, but in time they will get to know where you are, and if you pop up a variety of bird boxes, the feathered friends might stay and breed!
