As I understand it this is exactly what happens - obviously it depends on the size, position and shape of the damage. You'd be well advised to check any dents on a frame.
Having said that, if a framebuilder was happy to fill the dent rather than replace the tube hten it's obviously ok.
Good point. My 1st intentions were to replace the down tube, only 'cause I could be arsed to pay for it. Really. From mario it would have been like 20 odd quid.
Mario called me back saying the problem was about the lugs, too thin. Probably wouldn't
take the re-heating to remove the tube, and then re-heating to replace the new one.
Too much risks, obviously he guaranteed me I wouldn't even notice... lol. I do.
I don't regret it though 'cause it couldn't* have meant the end of the frame's life.
