And nice to meet you JD! Will be back to do the 210k another year. I got to the 135/210 decision point with time still to spare but opted to stay with the original plan for 135. I reckoned the bike (if not me...) wouldn't make it, as I was already down to one brake, 4 or 5 gears and couldn't climb out of the saddle without it "auto-shifting". The candles on the climb through Brolio lifted spririts and Siena looked great at dawn. I thought I was flying 'round 'til Asciano, had a few cheeky chiantis, then hit that long stretch of undulating white road which took hours. The RyanAir inflight magazine had its main feature on L'Eroica, whih made me (metaphorically) stick my chest out with pride.
