  • Hi Tim - as VL says, the spacers are designed to go over a steerer not a stem, your quill to ahead adaptor is still basically a quill stem in terms of size and function. You might do better to find some alloy tubing with an ID closer to the adaptor OD and cut a piece the right length using a steerer cutter jig (or mitre box) to get it neatly square. However, I am more concerned that you think the spacers are contributing to the stem loosening! Mechanically, the quill adaptor should be expanded tightly in the steerer and should not slip at all, equally the ahead stem should be clamped tightly around the adaptor and should not move. If either are 'slipping' they are not fitted correctly, irrespective of any vanity spacers. The other thing you could try is using some packing between the spacers and the quill adaptor to stop them moving around, like some flexible plastic or even old inner tube. You are not going to find an off the shelf product that will have the correct I.D., what you bought is correct for its intended purpose!
