One of the guys I went on holiday with packed his EC90 seatpost and Specialized Toupe saddle in his hand luggage as it didn't fit in his bike box so well.
Security wouldn't let it though as they thought it could be used as a weapon, he had to buy a new saddle and post when he got to Italy.
They would probably look on a chainset in the same way.
