  • Given the kind of waiting list Sachs and Pegoretti usually have, and the lavish prices they charge to reflect this unexplained clamour, you could have a 953 Rourke, wrap it round a lamp post, get another one, and still have both change and time to spare.

let me explain it for you :-)

pegoretti: love or hate paintjobs/history (7 tour winners)/exclusivity/first user of tig and big on oversize tubes/ sorted geometry/stiff yet ride all day frames.

    vanilla: sublime finish/history/attention to detail/subtle/
    makes stuff like this

richard sachs. less showy more race orientaded/ minimal fuss with attention to detail/history, started at witcomb but moved with the times instead of living in the past(co-designed new tubing with DP)/ still does lots of lugged stuff and big on cyclocross

    does stuff like this:

if you think they are poor value then evans/wiggle/chain reaction have some good deals on.

i would happily have a rourke. i would have if i didn't have a pegoretti.
exclusivity is part of the attraction but if the product was poor then they wouldn't sell. there are a fair few frame builders out there without the knowledge or expertise who charge a fair whack for frame no005. i certainly wouldn't want to pay top whack for a frame that's the first out the workshop, the 500th maybe or when they have 20-30 years experience behind them :-)
