Problem with nice and oily is that a little too much lube mean dirt will stick on the chain, and cause it to wear, whether less oil will cause the chain to rust (likely).
Best thing is to be careful when lubing, never put too much, it'll feel fine the first few weeks, until eventually you'll find it become noisy again due to dirt in the chain.
