What an annoying story. I imagine you didn't cause the dent anyway (carrying livestock means that trucks had a hard life and it was probably caused in some farmyard somewhere anyway).
It seems a perfectly reasonable explanation that he damaged it when he ran into you (may want to edit your first post mind). IANAL but I seriously can't imagine that there is any way that they could possibly prove that you caused any damage whatsoever to the truck.
If you're really concerned about it, complain to the police about his driving independent of his complaint. His complatin will be dropped under threat of investigation / formal complaint to his boss - this has happened to me.
