Sound like you just don't have the skills to cope with riding where you do so you resort dodgy manoeuvres. It's true you might not employ the same techniques as riding in central London but but they while the same as riding in some other part of London due to the diversity of the nature of the traffic in London. None of these areas of require riding as you describe. Perhaps you could describe the environment in which you think is so different and why you can't cope with it.
i cope just fine, very fine, you have no idea how i ride so dont be ignorant, i use my skills to my advantage, i know when its safe to brake the rules...
how i ride is fine, its safer for me and better for the drivers if i go on a perfectly clear path, always ride at walking speed on the path, pushchairs make more hassle than me on a bike! i cross when the man is green, get back on the road when its clear, so...much better than cars all around me, on a hill at some lights, then when its green i slow every one behind me down, cars squeezing and accelerating right by the side of me pushing be right by the curb wich is a bad idea on a fixed gear...
