  • I've seen the Globe ones. they look to 'cruiser' to me. fat tyres. thick frames tubing and really really relaxed posture.

    not so into those.

quite the opposite actually, the tyres isn't so fat (35c) and the position aren't quite relaxed in it's original set-up.

and remember, the frame is made of alu instead of steel which help a great deal in keeping the bike stiff, the problem with porteur/cargo bike is the amount of flex it have under heavy load, I experience that with the old dutch bike which make it a bit unpredictable to ride sometime (frame start to shimmer at 15mph for instance).

also it's pretty good to ride, easier and quicker to ride than an old steel frame, but unfortunately that mean it won't be as comfortable as a steel frame.

the best thing about the Globe (Haul and Live) is that it can hold a decent amount of weight, says a person, especially the Haul whose rear rack is welded onto the frame.

Sadly mine got stolen before I have a chance to finish turning it into the ulimate porteur bicycle with internal gear and brakes, dynamo lighting, front and rear rack etc. so I have a new bike to replace that now.

How has Ed not yet responded to this thread?!

Can't believe I miss that topic, I just realise I wasn't in the country when this was made.
