I am building my first fixie(I did have a langster framed fixie, but I bought that second hand off some guy), and I thought I would make a project log. I see a lot of amazing builds on here, but very little in the way of build logs etc?.
It helps me keep track of what I'm doing, and hopefully, I can get some advice from you guys in the process...correct my inevitable rookie blunders (without too much abuse :P)
Anyway, here goes:
First, I bought a vintage Claud Butler road frame off fleabay...
I think it's from 1967, but its in decent shape, paintwork a bit crappy, but I'm gonna get it powdercoated anyway
I decided I didn't need the pump holders, so out comes the hacksaw, files and sandpaper...
Result. I don't think it's too bad- once its painted, it won't be noticeable.
I did the same on the front one...
Since armourtex don't do transfers, I thought I'd make my own...I haven't really decided how yet, but either I will paint with modelling paint etc by hand or maybe get some vinyl cut on a computer.
Anyway, I had to make copies of the decals first...
I had to fill in the bits that were damaged with a marker pen, but I think I did ok. Will decide on what exactly to do with the copy later...
I've also bought some stuff:
Dura Ace track sprocket 15t
Halo aerorage wheelset
Campagnolo Record Strada 42t Crankset (from Freezing77, hopefully collect today)
Cinelli 40cm Bars (Freezing77 as well)
KMC Kool 1/8" BMX Chain
A pair of nice road forks (the Claud Butler frame came with some, but they had a ridiculous brake drop, might sell them on)
Charge spoon saddle
Still to buy:
Cinelli stem
Bottom Bracket- I'm not sure what size to get...
Threaded headset
Bar tape
Pedals
Seatpost
And probs some other bits and pieces I've forgotten about...
Anyone sees these in classified/ebay, please gimme a shout.
That's it for now, I'll post more when there's progress on the project...
