That's terrible about your friend, hopefully she'll be on the mend soon enough.
I will just say though, in the L2B cyclists (as a whole) defence, there were a lot of people trying to cross the roads in Brighton nearing the finish line whilst hundreds of cyclists were riding through. Seems like quite a pointless risk to take since Police were stopping both vehicles and cyclists every few hundred yards to control traffic and let peds cross.
I'm not saying your mate was one of the people trying to cross in a bad place at a bad time but in any case, the cyclist obviously should've stopped. I'd say the cyclist was more likely to be 'experienced' (read 'a bit of a dick') than a nodder. A nodder would've likely shat themselves and seen if your mate was OK rather than just mumbled about how stupid it was to cross there etc etc.
