I'd just buy a complete 10 speed gruppo, personally.
I dont think you can get a 10 speed cassette on a 8 speed hub (different spline pattern), so you will need a new one.
But I think you can convert a 9/10 speed ergoshifter to index an 8 speed set-up if you want to save money.
At the end of the day, you'll likely find yourself using your gears more, if you go for a more user friendly 10 speed set-up.
