+1 disguising it as normal luggage/suitcase is a bad idea.
BUT if for example your airline charges for bikes, but not for oversized box, then pack in a box and say it's something fragile. Should ensure they put it on the side.
Fuck knows about cheap european airlines though, they charge you per air you breathe and words you speak, ridiculous.
