yeah, it gets really loud when it's on my lap. thing is, this didn't happen with my other powerbook. happened even less with the ibook. I remembered hearing that powerbooks overheat easily when I got my first one (both my powerbooks are pre-owned). this is just awful, though. really distracting, can't watch any video on it. And since I can't get my iPod to work anymore (not to mention my US bought iPod speakers to work here), I use my computer to play music during massages and really need to fix this problem.
I don't remember, will ask the guy who I got this from to tell me if he'd increased RAM and if it's at the max. I need to learn how to fix my puters myself, it's too much money otherwise!
Plus, I have to be able to run Windows soon so I can work from home. From a tutorial I'm seeing, it looks like I can take out the old hard drive and install the new powerpc hard drive, if I can get ahold of one. this chassis is a bit fncked, though, disks don't go in well. it was a great stop-gap, though! I'm not slaggin it at all, in case my knight in white satin armor is reading this thread.
