Create and Unipack aren't doing anything new or shocking by producing cheap singlespeed/fixed gear bikes, they are catering to a market.
Mechanical_vandal, I get your point, and if all they were doing was producing cheap bikes that would be fine. Yes, people would still take the piss, but there would be nothing wrong with getting one to start with.
The problem is that, based on people's experiences here, they are downright dangerous. We have regularly heard stories of mechanical issues, such as chains snapping, which if they happened at the wrong time could seriously injure or kill someone. Yes that can happen to any bike, but it seems to happen a lot more with these bikes.
