well, i didn't really do very much at all other than fall off in to mud baths a lot.
It was my first time on a mountain-bike so I was just happy to complete a lap (and a half) (relatively) unscathed! wussed out on the second run of the downhill section and called it a day (FAIL!)
Made the mistake of clipping in which was not pleasant on a MTB, I thought. Lots of getting stuck in the pedals, not being able to clip back in cos of the mud, and losing my balance in sinking mud pits and being unable to do anything fast enough to stop myself from drowning in it.
also I can confirm that having 5 hours to contemplate the joys of life between your first and second lap is not helpful! I had so many visions of hurting myself that I had the fear on the second run worse than the first time round! WTF!
BUT!! THE MULE BAR GIRLS KICKED SOME ASS!
i think they won their category?
Saw a couple of them blazing trails during the day - very impressed! And they definitely had the best cyclewear out of the bunch too. So congrats to Anna and co. for their effort!
