• in Wimbledon, there's a lovely bloke who's about 55, I often seen him every now and then, when I talk to him a couple years ago, he told me the main reason he become a posties is that he get to ride a bike while getting paid to do it, he actually have the same bicycle that he lovingly cared for and use outside work too.

    Recently, he was laid off because he doesn't have a driving license.

    30 odd years delivering mail and already sacked simply because he didn't want to drive, pretty sad isn't it?

    Disgraceful. Luckily for him (perhaps?) there are other jobs around in which you can ride a bike, but whether he'd find anything locally is anyone's guess.

    This sounds like a simple misapplication of H&S--the additional Royal Mail vehicles may cause more crashes (to third parties) than those to postmen that might be avoided by taking them off the bikes.
