Try it in reverse as if there is something there it will work its way further in, but be careful ;p
If your pads are worn you could be on the rivets and you don't want to "score" your disks as you will forever have squeaky brakes.
If you jack the car up remove the calliper and visually check it oh and check the disk first as a calliper can take some effort to remove.
