Of course you have to think about the chainline!

not really, I can use the Nexus 8 speeds hubs with a double chainring up front, or even a triple, it's doable (that was my original plan, small ring for heavy load, and bigger ring for normal riding), I was going to use a chain tensioner though.
Also, the chainline are easy to sort out because the cog can be flipped the other way round.
