using the big chainring on the front and big sprocket on the rear will cause excessive wear, the chain is so far derailed its Z shaped and the plates wear, as well as do the sprockets too.
The only area of concern on 9 & 10 speed chains is making sure they're joined properly, although you don't have to use the rivetting method as there's Wipperman links etc which remove the worry.
