the internal width of the chain ie: where it sits on the sprockets is i think the same regardless of the number of speeds 6,7,8,9 etc. the only difference as far as i know are the plates and rivets that are thinner....correct me if i'm wrong!
the more you clean it and lube it the longer it will last
