new dp18s are not as well joined (not welded but tacked) and build in general compaired to the originals. made in taiwan or summing.
but on the other side, this is reflected in their price and as i found out buildig them up and [STRIKE]riding[/STRIKE] bunnie hopping them around, sturdy as can be, stiff, solid feel to them and well easy to true (there was very little to adjust actually during the tensioning session).
my rims are dp18s. if you pringle one, replacement is affordable :)
