  • look, this is a thread about someone who died. someone that some of us knew – called an acquaintance, a mate, a work colleague, whatever. someone that some of us respected and looked up to. someone that inspired some of us. in short, someone that touched some of our lives in some way. you don't have to rescue children from burning buildings in order to have an influence on someone's life. you don't have to trudge through the jungle to build mud huts or whatever to be a good person, worthy of mourning.

    a lot of us are in creative fields. alexander mcqueen was someone who rose from basically nowhere to the top of his field, based purely on his talent and many of us respect and admire him for that.

    it's fine if you don't admire him. it's fine if he didn't have any impact on your life. but don't be a dick and tell me it's wrong that i did admire him or that i'm sad that he's gone.
