  • oof that reminds me,did anyone see that programme when Gordon Ramsey gave Cliff his own wine as a blind taster and Cliff said it was shite and then called Ramsey a c**t when he found out what he'd done

Ha! That was pretty funny. Can't find the clip on youtube though, Cliff's lawyers probably hard at work...

"Of the second, his own wine Vida Nova from his estate in the Algarve, southern Portugal, he said, 'That's rubbish. I wouldn't pay for that, it's tainted, it's insipid. It tastes like vinaigrette. I'd never buy that.'"

But note that as "one veteran observer pointed out, 'The first wine Ramsay gave him was a £400 claret. Of course a Portuguese table wine, made from five-year-old vines, is going to taste rough after that. It's a classic wine industry sting."

Anyway, I recently discovered Chateau Margaux and while its certainly too pricey to enjoy regularly its a superb Bordeaux (Medoc region). And was really lucky to be able to guzzle some Chateau d'Yquem last year, think it was a 1997. Damn that was some fine (sweet) wine!

I also tried Buckfast for the first time whilst in Aberdeen. Delicious. Refreshing. Hell of a nose. But might mix with Irn-Bru next time to wash down something battered and high in calories and saturated fat.
