The lesson you should have learned, of course, is that you shouldn't ride along the Old Kent Road. Nobody should ever, by choice, ever go within half a mile of the Old Kent Road. It has absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever. You need sectioning if you go there willingly. My father worked in a ball bearings factory there when he left school - it caused him to leave London for good.
