  • Shaun at Wiggle. I bought a Kona mountain bike in the Wiggle sale, and had it shipped to France. It arrived in good time, really well packed, all properly adjusted. I put it together and went for a v quick spin in the woods, just fireroads and mud tracks, nothing exciting. The brakes were set up in the French fashion, i.e. front brake lever on the left. It was a little unnerving to say the least.

Anyhoo, I reviewed it on their website (I almost didn't bother, it's the '09 model, and I figured they were about to take it off the site), mentioning this little tiny problem. That was this morning. This afternoon, 3.30ish UK time, I get a call on my French mobile from an English number. It's wiggle, of course. Shaun explained that they send out most of their bikes to the continent like that because that's how brakes are set up out here (God knows how motorbikers with bikes manage).

He told me to take it to a local bike shop, get them to change the hoses over, email them a scan of the receipt, and they'd refund the money straight onto my card!

Changing hoses isn't a biggie, but I'd have to get the oil, bleed the brakes, and it can get messy, so I'll glad help out my local bike shop with this one.

    Top-notch-extra-mile service from wiggle.
