i remember that day stelle. was beautiful for sure.
i have many memories of the man, needless to say all fond. a good few of them from out there on the road
like april 08 london to brighton. a nice crew including roberto, dt, hops, slamm, ma3k, hippy geared up and many more. we somehow lost paul shortly after purley. he had probably stopped for a rolly or even a pint. roberto and i tried in vain to get hold of him on the blower and were half way to brighton before he called back. no problem he says, he'll find us on the beach. sure enough, not long after we got there he tipped up. as greasy points out above, he has a thing for the A23 and had taken that rather than our snaky route
like the christmas jumper grand slam that shins spoke of above. in his element with a pint in his hand but also showing that after a fair few he could slip through the busy streets of london at a fair clip. he stayed on point the whole way from east to west keeping a great pace and dropping us just when he knew we were in familiar territory. as ray said, you could see he simply loved being on point on that one, and showing us a thing or two.
so we charge along a narrowish flat road, paul in front, three cars behind him then us. not a beep to be heard over a good kilo or so as paul took the centre of the road on his fantastic moser. like the drivers of the cars just completely succumbed to the grace and the beauty of the old fella. his jeans rolled up, pedalling with a gentle fury, on a calm sunny day. the perfect picture of the rider. for the way i see our love of bikes and the black top, for me anyway, the epitome of the rider
shoots i know you will remember this. i know you will remember me how we hung back in awe of it.
and paul, it is how i will always picture you dude
