Definitely use their QR for the geared bike. It'll mean you can get the bike held in snuggly with less force. You don't really want to be putting any extra pressure on the axle than is necessary to hold the bike in place. A little bit of movement is acceptable (you obviously don't want to risk pulling the bike out of the mounts though
