What about the precious time you've missed when you learn how to ski?
Frankly, the learning I got from instructor are always fun, even if you've never ski in your life before, so I don't thiink you'd miss out the best part of the day when you're having fun.
Go for it, if it really bother you, learn snowboarding here in England first before you go aboard, but it's still a lots more fun in the alps than in a huge fridge in a shifty town.
Well I could argue I've gained time on the slopes by spending the time learning to ski. If I had never learned to ski, I'd have missed out on all the fun I've had. One could also apply the same logic to learning to snowboard. But to learn to board now I can ski would mean taking some time out of skiing in order to board. Yes, I will probably enjoy it. However, I know I enjoy skiing, and as I don't have much time on the slopes, I'll stick to skiing for now.
I'm not ruling out ever boarding, just for my upcoming trip, I'll be on skis.
