I'd like to try borading but don't want to waste precious time on the slopes learning to board when I know I could be out having fun on skis. Maybe one day...
What about the precious time you've missed when you learn how to ski?
Frankly, the learning I got from instructor are always fun, even if you've never ski in your life before, so I don't thiink you'd miss out the best part of the day when you're having fun.
Go for it, if it really bother you, learn snowboarding here in England first before you go aboard, but it's still a lots more fun in the alps than in a huge fridge in a shifty town.
